• Question: what do you hope the biggest technology outbreak of the next year will be?

      There’s some really promising work being done with growing organs for transplants for people.

      The great thing about these is that they’re grown from the patient’s cells, so there’s no problem with rejection.

      There’s also some promising cures for certain cancers, like leukemia that I’d like to see hit the market.

      But also, I’d really like to flexible screens, and phones that we could fold up!

      I would love to see the biggest technology outbreak be a technology which is being developed in the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute. It is a tiny device that checks drugs are best for you in the treatment of heart disease. And best of all it only uses tiny volumes of blood. It is doing really well and they are doing lots of tests on patient samples already. This would help treat people with heart disease a lot quicker and be specific for them, resulting in the saving of thousands of lives.

      Faster global communications. I have an inside track on a new nano-material that will allow for much faster transmission and pick-up of signals. I can’t say anything more now because the papers haven’t even been published!

      But soon we will be able to communicate faster than ever before!
