nanoscience is not separate from the other types of science, even though it may seem that way. Nanoscience is part of all other types of science. There is magnetism in nanoscience. There is nano-biology. There is nano-optics, nano-medicine and chemistry of nano-materials. Almost all fields of science have a nano-section to them. So for me it wasn’t that I chose nanoscience over any other types, I chose a field where all areas of science are represented.
Of course some areas are not represented, like astrophysics or zoology, but those are the areas I was not that interested in in the first place.
I decided to focus on nanoscience because it means I don’t really have to focus at all! Nanoscience takes all other parts of science and just shrinks them down and we see that different things happen. So I am still working in material science, magnetism, electronics, microscopy, spectroscopy, mechanics, chemistry and thermodynamics.
I don’t have to choose a single discipline at all!
