I sort of fell into it by accident. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do when I left college so I did lots of things and travelled a bit. In the States I met some people who worked with water and I really liked the combination of rocks and water. The work is really practical and hands-on, and I get to be outside a lot. The more I studied it the more complex and fascinating I found water. And because we need water then studying water means I get to work with people as well as with the land.
