Question: What do you do on the field

I always start with the idea that the field is waiting to tell us stories if we know how to ask.
First I suppose we observe what we see. For my work I’d always need to know something about geology: where is the rock, what type of rock is it, and how does water react with it.
We collect enough information to make better maps and to plan further work
