Question: what was it like to work on a river that flowed off of a volcano?

It was incredible! We were tracking the parasite communities in the water since the volcanic activity changes the temperature of the rivers. Some of the rivers were about 3 degrees and some were up to 65 degrees! We would wake up in the morning, drive the 4 wheel drive truck to the valley, and then hike about 2 hours to the river we were working on that day. It was tough but really beautiful!
