I always liked geology and I did some hydrogeology in college but didn’t really like it! When I graduated I was in the US and one of the jobs I ended up doing was working with a well drilling company in Texas. It was hard work and the days were really long, but I learned so much (and the pay was good!). That was dealing with water from a purely practical side and I realised I wanted to learn what was happening in the ground and why the water did what it was doing. So that took me to Wisconsin where I did an MSc in hydrogeology.
