      Not any more, thankfully. That stuff is dangerous!

      Fewer and fewer biologists work with radiation, they have replaced radioactive chemicals with fluorescent chemicals which are a lot less toxic to work with. Fluorescent means that the chemicals shine out light of particular colours, when you shine light on them.
