I really liked science in school so when I filled in my CAO application I put down lots of science courses. Then after my leaving cert results came out I got offered one of the courses I wanted.

I studied Pharmaceutical Biotechnology in CIT and during mt third year we got to go on work experience. My work experience was in a research lab so when I finished at CIT I applied for a PhD position in the same research lab I had done my work experience.. I still work here now!

I studied science during my school and stated my college in engineering (electronics). Later I did my masters in photonics from Manipal University, India. With my research projects I did I applied for CIT for PhD and now I am here. Main thing being learner is the good thing to be scientist.

About 9 or 10 years of studying in University after finishing school, although some people get there faster than I did.

After a few years working on genetics I started getting more interested in statistics and moved over to that. I’m still studying, learning doesn’t have to end at some point if you don’t want it to – I have exams next May! Being a scientist means you’re always learning.

As I was interested in Science and Technologies during the studies, I carried out studies at a Technical Institute, where I could apply my theoretical knowledge in practical projects.
I was always interested in combining multi-disciplinary knowledge in projects, I carried out a PhD in Bio-medical imaging; it combined knowledge in Biology, Physics, Materials, Optics, Diagnostic and programming.
