It’s a really light gas – if it was on earth it would float straight up. They used to fill balloons with it (and zeppelins), until they found out that hydrogen likes to explode.
Compounds were already provided, and yes they are very volatile… however the sun is massive!!! it is a big ball of burning hydrogen, its main fuel. The gravity on his surface is so big that the sun and hydrogen does not disappear, and when we wake up in the morning we can still see it.
Like the others have said already it’s mostly a gas called hydrogen but there is no need to worry about the Sun running out of hydrogen any time soon as it’s estimated the Sun’s supply of hydrogen will last another another 5 billion years.
