      As I am President of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Science, I and a few other scientists will go to all 15 schools over the next year and have a “touchy/feely” science hour- the boys and girls will get to look down the microscope, see how blood clots, there will be some “surprise” work that the boys and girls can do before then- they will get the kit in the post.

      I would like to visit a number of schools and do the following;

      (1)Bring a microscope and show the boys and girls some interesting blood samples – a few diseases, you too could look down the microscope
      (2)Show the boys and girls how a person stops bleeding when they cut themselves by using a water bath and a few other things

      (3) Show the boys and girls how we can choose blood for someone when they need some after e.g. an accident.

      Of course, I would have to make sure this is all ok with your teachers. I plan also to do something fun with agar plates and you can photograph them – also if your teachers give permission.

      Hi,
      I want to give it to the Maths Sparks people here in UCD, so that they can use it in one of their workshops. http://www.ucd.ie/sparc/MathsSparks.html

      They have nice ideas about how to get university students teaching maths to school students.
