      Atoms move around mostly because they bounce off each other.

      Also when the temperature is higher, and it’s warmer, atoms have more energy, so they vibrate and jiggle more, and end up bouncing off each other more.

      When you boil water, you’re making it really hot, right? Water is made out of three atoms tightly glued to each other, so it behaves the same way. When it gets hot enough, and jiggles around so much that it can escape the rest of the water in the kettle, and get into the air and becomes steam.
