Not always. When I was 10, I wanted to be an astronaut (which pretty much means you also should be a scientist, but I didn’t know that at the time). Then, when I was 12, I wanted to be a writer. Then, from 14-16 I wanted to be an architect (that dream died after I did some work experience in an architects and didn’t like it).
Then, at 16, I started chemistry and physics for leaving cert, and suddenly studying science seemed like a great idea since I liked both of those subjects, and I also enjoyed maths.
Pretty much! When I was smaller, I wanted to be a paleontologist (that is, a scientist who works with dinosaurs), and then as I grew older, I wanted to be a science teacher, a computer engineer, an astrophysicist and then finally a chemistry researcher!
