      We think there are about 100,000,000,000 galaxies in the Universe.

      This image () is called the Hubble Deep field. If I were to point out this patch of sky on the night sky to you, it would be smaller than if you held a 1 cent coint at arms length – it’s a tiny piece of sky.

      And it holds about 3000 galaxies. Every point of light in that image is an individual galaxy. So across the entire night sky, we think there are billions of galaxies!
