You can use grafting to cover up the hole. Now there are techniques to make your own skin grow in one place and then cut the extra skin and transfer it to the wound. Since it’s your own skin, your body won’t reject it and the wound will heal properly.

By the way, to grow skin somewhere on your body, the doctors insert a small balloon just underneath the skin and blow it up a little bit each day. The skin is stretched and then starts to grow to reduce the tension, and then you can blow it a bit more, until eventually you have created enough extra skin. Clever or wha!
