• Question: What if everyone in the world jumped at the same time

      I’m not sure if you’ve heard of the webcomic xkcd (and if you haven’t, I strongly recommend you check it out because it’s hilarious), but the author, Randall Munroe, also runs a ‘What If’ section on his website, where people submit hypothetical questions and he gives in depth scientific answers, and this is actually a question that he’s been asked and produced a great answer to: https://what-if.xkcd.com/8/

      In case you don’t want to read the whole thing, the answer is: not much! We’re so tiny as a species (even all 6.5 billion of us) compared to the Earth that even if everyone jumped at the same time it would have little to no effect on the Earth.
