• Question: What was your child hood dream?

      When I was very small I wanted to be a paleontologist, I was obsessed with the TV show ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ (still a highly entertaining watch, although some of the special effects have not stood the test of time, and the entire tone is ridiculously melodramatic!). I could name tons of different dinosaurs (still can name quite a few) and collected stickers and models.

      Become the first Irish person to ever go to space. There’s never been an Irish astronaut, and there are currently no plans to have one. But someday we will send someone up there.

      To become a maths teacher. I thought it would impress girls! But that didn’t pan out exactly. What’s yours?

      I always wanted to write books. I really enjoyed essay writing and in 3rd year I won an essay competition during national science week entitled “chemistry in my life”…still my proudest moment to date (Sad I know)!! Thus combining my two favourite things, science & writing.
