• Question: What's the best part of your day

      Out of every day? Two things come to mind, and both are very different.

      One: I love reading the arXiv every morning (www.arxiv.org). Here, all of the new science papers are published every day. Typically, there are 30-40 new astrophysics papers every day. I get a thrill out of reading all of the discoveries that are announced every single day. Makes me have hope for humans, because its all work that we’re doing together.

      Two: I love relaxing in the evening with my friends. After a long day of working, and reading, and thinking, it’s nice to just sit down and chat, or play games, or just be in the same room as someone while I read. Companionship and being able to unwind and relax is very important to me.

      I really like my job but best part of my day is getting home to my family and having dinner discussing what’s happened during the day.

      Has to be when I finally find the solution to a problem. But that doesn’t happen every day.
      Also, sometimes I manage to keep the students interested in a lesson for an entire hour, all of us working together to understand a difficult concept… that feels great! But again it’s not every day.
      So the best part of every single day has to be when I go to bed!

      The best part of my day that I get to do every day is sitting down to my first cup of coffee in the morning…I do love my coffee!

      In terms of my work, the best part of my day, as Michel said, is figuring out the answer to a problem, particularly one that’s been puzzling me for a while! The longer it’s been puzzling me, the more satisfaction I get from figuring it out. Sadly that doesn’t happen every day, but it’s the best feeling ever when it does!
