• Question: will anyone every come up with a cure for cancer?

      Hi Jessica,
      I don’t think there will ever be a “one size fits all” cure for cancer because there are so many different types and grades of cancer. However scientists are working in different labs across the world focusing on specific types of cancer and trying to find a cure for that particular cancer (e.g. Breast cancer, leukaemia, brain tumours etc.) There has been huge progress in the treatment of cancers but I think it will always be an ongoing area of research.

      I think Karen has this one covered! Some cancers are already very treatable with drugs that have been invented, while some remain practically untreatable. One of the main weapons in the fight against cancer is developing ways of detecting cancer as early as possible, because the earlier you catch it, the easier it is to treat! Once the cancer has had a chance to spread to lots of places in the body, it becomes much harder to treat.

      I think Karen is right. We’ll probably always be looking for cures to the different types of cancer that can occur, but I do believe we’ll find a cure for the most common cancers in the future.
