In my work I synthesize molecules that are able to measure the Oxygen concentration in cells that can be useful in the studies of many diseases. These molecules are called Oxygen sensors and in particular the ones I chemically synthesize are phosphorescent so they can be imaged with fluorescence microscopes and analyzed with many different luminescence spectrometers.
These molecules can be helpful in the understanding and studies of many diseases caused by abnormal oxygen consumption like tumors or hypoxia.
