It all depends on what do you mean by “study of the brain”. Neuroscience is developing very fast, especially nowadays. New technologies and techniques are popping up, so almost constantly there is some new approach which is worth to be tried and can become a trend. We also have some simple and basics techniques which are very well-designed. They probably won’t be changed for a very long time, as long as something more efficient and cheaper will be invented. The answer also depends on which part of the neuroscience we are talking about. Working on anatomical aspects won’t require so many new techniques/approaches like for example neuroinformatic, neurorobotic etc. which are still quite young disciplines.
