There is a famous quote (that nobody is really sure who said it!) that says “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”.
If you were a doctor and wanted to manage someone’s health, you need to be able to measure things that tell us how healthy someone is. X-ray machines measure what our bones look like, so we can see if they’re broken. Electrocardiogram machines measure the electrical activity in our heart, so we can see if they heart tissue is damaged or healthy. Activity trackers measure how much we move our bodies, so we can see if we are keeping our muscles, hearts, and lungs strong and healthy.
In the future, we will have lots of sensors in our homes that will help measure how healthy we are, so we won’t need to go to the doctor so often.
