I was impressed by a chemical reaction (it was my favourite science experinence in middle school) that throwing a small piece of sodium into the water. Sodium will react with water to produce hydrogen. Meanwhile, the metal block moves erratically and hisses at the surface of water.
We know various metal products in daily life. And they usually have no reactions with water in normal temperature. Sodium is also a metal and it has such different chacteristics comparing with other metals. Mechanical and Materials science was so interesting and mysterious.
