      Depends on what type of crystals your are trying to find!

      Your best chance to find something in a normal setting would be to look for white stripes (called veins) that cut across rocks. These used to be cracks that got filled over time with crystals. Or if you dry out seawater you can create salt crystals!

      To see nice museum quality crystals you have to look in specific places. The best crystals are usually found in places like caves because the crystals grow slowly so the can get very big. Places nearby/in areas that are mined for minerals (which there are plenty in Ireland) are another place to find nice ones. Often you will also have to break a rock apart to see the crystals thing of a geode.

      Technically all mineral grains can be considered crystals. For example if you look at a granite all the different colours are different types of crystals.
