I had actually started university studying law, and then once I got there I realised I’d never do maths again!
It was a strange moment and I got worried, I’d ALWAYS studied maths through school, so the thought of never doing it again was quite scary. I immediately contacted my allocated supervisor and asked if I could change. Luckily for me, someone had just dropped maths so I managed to grab their spot on the course!
In school, I was very confused about what I wanted to be when I grew up, but now I realise I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up! Although, I have a feeling a lot of you think I am a grown up 🙂
Being a scientist is a great opportunity, because it gives me lots of flexibility with what I want my job to be. I’ve been a lecturer in university for the past year and just about to start a new job researching in a completely different area. Both are fantastic jobs, and I like having the option to move jobs every now and again if I want to.
