Question: How do you put atoms into a computer or ipad to make it work

We use some specific and very complex software developed by and for scientist and we use very large computers, like a few hundreds of ipads. The idea is to start with some initial atoms placed within a box, think about the characteristics and properties you want those to have and let the computer solving equations for a few days and hopefully, in the end, it will give you some ideas, predictions and explanations of how your materials works
