My work involves using computers and mathematics to design experiments and mathematical models to understand how the brain works. My main works focuses on investigating how we use and combine different sensory systems live vision, audition, touch and balance. I have investigated the role of vestibular system, which controls our balance, in how we drive and walk. With two of my collaborators in Canada I’ve written a paper for all ages about some of the work called Feeling ourselves move you can read it here.

My typical working day starts with getting my daughter to school. I then make a list of things that I need to do, the list can include something as simple as write an email to work on an academic paper. An academic paper is a way of showing my academic work other scientists. It can take as long as three years to finish an academic paper, this involves running an experiment, analysing the data, interpreting the data and then writing it all up.
