I am not designing any robots. I am working on the technology by which robots can feel the texture of a substance and human beings can feel what the robot can feel. Collaborative robots will work with human beings at the same work place and our smart glove can be used as a platform to communicate between the two.

      Hi there!

Same than for Souvik, I do not design the robot itself, I design the environment around it so that they can perform their task! Depending on the challenge, I assemble the robotic cell using different sensors, accessories, robot gripper, and tooling, and then program the robot to perform the task.
We do a lot of prototyping, so a lot of testing and trying different things until the robot cell works the way we want it to work!

In my research centre, we work in the manufacturing sector, with an aim to advance and improve manufacturing in Ireland. Factories managers & engineers who have a challenge that they do not know how to solve come to us and we try to solve it for them using advanced technologies, such as Robotics, 3D printing, or VR/AR.

So the Robots I work with will be used directly in the factories, to help humans with repetitive and dangerous tasks: it can be from picking and placing products, to transporting products around the factory floor.
