So water can erode surfaces on earth in multiple ways. One way is called splash erosion, which happens when rain hits the soil and ends up making it muddy. This mud flows into spaces in the soil and turns and forms a compacted mass that dries with a hard, largely impermeable crust on the upper soil layer. b) When the rain is very heavy the surface area can be removed due to the force of the rain and this soil is moved elsewhere c) Channelized flow is when a mixture of soil and water cuts through certain areas of the soil or ground rock forming a tunnel.
