There are many facets to working as a “water scientist”. I find my jobs that I have worked in very interesting so far.
At the moment, I am researcher (graduating PhD student). I know enough people that really had a bad time during their PhD, but the majority I think were happy after all. It really depends if your topic interests you, and if you get along with your professor.
In general, working in environmental engineering and science (what I am doing) is amazing, as it involves a variety of actvities and future perspectives on jobs and useful tasks to improve the livelihood of people.
