The sun burns hydrogen and converts it to helium. SO over time there is more and more helium and less hydrogen, so the rate of the sun burning decreases. Eventually the the sun will become smaller and the pressure of becoming smaller will turn the hydrogen into carbon. This will cause the sun to swell outwards as carbon is quite heavy and big and possible eat up the other plants or move them around and possibly result in the earth cooling! The sun also goes through a cycle of heating and cooling a little tiny bit every seven years too!
