      In short, the answer is genetics. Your genetics determine what colour your eyes will be. So people with blue eyes usually have parents with blue eyes for example.

      The coloured part of your eye is called the “iris”, and the colour itself comes from a pigment called “melanin” which is in your eye. So different people have different coloured eyes come from having different amounts of melanin in the iris, and the amount of melanin is determined by genetics.

      Bear in mind that I am neither a geneticist or a biologist, so I could be a little wrong in what I’ve said above, but on the whole that is my understanding of how your eye colour works.
