Curing cancer is a very difficult problem, because cancer is not just a single illness. There are multiple different types which affect different parts of the body and need to be treated in different ways. So there is a lot of research happening in parallel which tries to address the broad range of cancers that exist.

The good news is that treatment methods are always getting better, and the survival chances for a person suffering with cancer are increasing every year.

A family member of mine was diagnosed with cancer last Halloween, but with a few months of treatment and the work of excellent doctors he made a full recovery. That is all thanks to ongoing research into ways of treating cancer. There is very good reason to be optimistic.
