      I have worked on projects involving language processing, text understanding and building search engines.
      Two of them are listed below:

      1) Sentiment analysis analyzing user reviews and tweets, to better understand whether people are liking some specific products and how can we recommend and provide better services to users. The data gathered is useful as if you know early that users are not satisfied with a product or services, you can improve and address the issues quickly.

      2) Building search engines and measuring user engagements and learning: it’s nice to see how users interact with search engines and if they find the system useful or not. Were they able to learn using our developed search engines. Thus you can get direct insightful information from the data gathered through users.

    Well, I have worked on different successful projects and all of them involved data gathering. In these projects, data gathering was really useful because the answers to my questions came from the data analysis.
    For example, I am currently working on a project that focuses on the evaluation of translation systems such as Google Translate. My objective is to check the quality of translation these systems produce. To check that, I have to collect samples of translations produced by these systems to analyse if they are good translations. That is if the meaning of the original text was properly transferred to another language and if the grammar of the translated text is ok or it is making the text confusing.
