Originally I wanted to be a medical doctor, and then during my college degree I wanted to be a biochemist and look at chemical pathways within the brain which are associated with various mental health issues, however, once I found the world of small RNA and fungal diagnostics I was pretty happy with being a microbiologist. Im still only 25 so the beauty of science is that I can always re-train and go into different fields at any stage. My supervisor in my lab was originally a biochemist and now hes a microbiology lecturer!
