      It already is! I’m very lucky to work with computer scientists that use a form of AI to look at all the results (sometime we get 1000’s of results and its hard to know what is important) and the AI can see important things that we just cant see on our own.

      We then test and prove these. It really is a powerful tool, one of many that we have and are lucky to be able to use to help our research.

      We work with developing diagnostic techniques based on light – the techniques generate a huge amount of data which has to be processed and analysed, and already artificial intelligence techniques can be used to understand it. It is conceivable that this information could in the future be directly fed to surgeons in operations.

      Hopefully, in the future, artificial intelligence will be able to help us to analyse our data which we get from our sequencing machines and also help to interpret these results. That will make our lives a lot easier!
