I do and I work in a team of scientists from across the world who have different religions and faiths as well as others who do not believe.
We are always respectful to each other. We are all committed to working together if we believe in God or if we do not, we are all committed to helping patients and improving healthcare.
Sometimes I do- it’s hard not to when you are raised Catholic! But I find that I would rather believe in answers found from evidence, through science. They don’t have to be separate, science and religion, but I often find that my religion does not agree with things I believe to be true, and can be used to treat people badly, or stop us from finding out new answers.
We should always respect people’s beliefs though- my lab has people from lots of different countries and backgrounds, and we are all good friends and good scientists.
I’m not particularly religious but to design something as elegant as the periodic table is unlikely to have happened by chance. So is there a God or a creator is one of the biggest questions we as scientists have to ask.
