I wanted to work with numbers as I loved maths and in my dreams I wanted to help make the world a better place so becoming a scientist has made my dreams come true!
I always wanted to play professional sport (and still dream….!) so I wouldn’t say it was always my dream but I found out I was good at it in school and was keen to make a difference so it followed from there.
Not at all, I’ve wanted to be so many things! Translator for the UN (when I thought I was good at foreign languages… I am not), vet, doctor, nurse, spy, lawyer, hairdresser, writer, singer… SO MANY
I didn’t decide I wanted to be a scientist until I started studying at university, really- when I applied to university I chose a subject that I was interested in, and though I would enjoy, rather than thinking about what job I would have. Because that is a VERY SCARY DECISION to make when you are still in school.
If you have a dream, follow it with all you heart and work hard to get what you want- never let anyone tell you that you aren’t able, or that you shouldn’t do it. You don’t have to rush into anything though! If you don’t have a dream, or your dream seems really impossible, just keep doing what you love to do, or trying new things until you find something you do love- that’s when you’ll find the job and the life you want.
