Tough question, I am really interested in the how the little decisions made during warfare affect the outcome so I would say from the 1800’s to the first world war.

Hi Stormy, I am really interested in the roman times and the roman empire who were amazing scientists and engineers and even to this day we use many of the inventions that they brought to the world such as clean water, sanitation and roads! Where would we be with no roads!!!

The second world war has held a particular fascination for me since childhood.
More recently though I’ve also been interested in the middle ages; especially the period of the crusades to the holy lands and how those events are still affecting that region this this day.

      Hi Stormy!

I have always been fascinated by the ancient civilisations- the egyptians, babylonians, greeks, romans, vikings, incans and mayans… their myths and legends, their science and their politics; but I think my favourite era is right now. We have a more equal society than most previous civilisations (which is important to me, as a mixed race woman with lots of LGBT friends), and some sweet technology. Our knowledge of the universe and what we can do with it are already huge, and we learn more and more everyday and with increasing speed (thanks to said tech). We have developed amazing medicines which make us stronger and healthier (at least in the developed world) and we can live through diseases that may have wiped those ancient civilisations out (I’m looking at you, smallpox). The only caveat is that warfare technologies have also improved, and we have not become more peaceful than our ancestors, just better at killing. I only hope we use our rapidly advancing technology to help make the world a better place for everyone, so when I get this question in 50 years when I’m an old lady I can still think that I’m living in the best era.
