I do not have a favourite drug but I do have a favourite compound used in a test kit in hospitals, it is the size of a credit card and it contains a series of chemicals that when we add some blood, if key nutrients in our blood are present, such as potassium the element enters and an electron is released and this in turn causes the chemical to illuminate in a beautiful purple colour. There are a number of spots that when a patient arrives, a doctor can spot some blood and can immediately see if the patient is low on key nutrients and then adjust there care accordingly. This was invented by a lecturer of mine at Queen’s University and has saved millions of lives across the world. This for me is science in its best form.
