Yes… science is great for providing opportunities for travel.
When I was still an undergraduate I got a temporary visa to work in a lab in Canada for the summer.
I spent two years in Paris for my Masters degree.
I’ve been to conferences in the UK to present my work to colleagues from around the world.
Last January I spent two weeks in Italy to learn how to use a scientific computer program from the scientists who developed it.
And I will have more opportunities for travel in the future.
Yes, as science research is usually collaborative you get the chance to travel. As part of my Masters I spent 2 weeks in Switzerland doing a summer school on renewable energy and got to travel and present research in England, The Netherlands and Portugal also. So far in my PhD I have traveled to London twice to present work and also to Madrid. On Saturday I going to North Carolina for 2 weeks to work with another PhD student over there.
Yes, I have had the opportunity to work in laboratories in Brazil and to visit research centres in Germany, the Netherlands and Greece… Collaboration and communication with the scientific community is at the core of the research goals.
