• Question: Why is the sea blue?

      The sea appears blue for the same reason the sky appears blue… check out my answer to that question here:

      In short, the sea appears blue because it reflects blue light and absorbs the other colours of light.

      All objects have the ability to either absorb or reflect light. Different materials will absorb different amounts of light and reflect the rest. For the sea water reflects blue light and absorbs all the rest. From a quick google search as you travel deeper undersea at about 46 meters, most of the blue light is replaced with pitch darkness.
