Earth’s crust is the outer layer of our planet. Earth is very similar in the way it is composed to an egg. You have a very hot core in the middle (like a yolk), it is surrounded by very hot rocks we call the mantle, where the volcano magma comes from (like the egg white) and then only the very outer layer is solid. That is our crust. It is actually very thin, on average only 30 km, while the distance to the center of the Earth is 6300 km.
