      Meteors have hit Earth before, the last big meteor which was about 10kilometres wide hit the Gulf of Mexico about 66million years ago! Small meteors are seen burning up as they come into the Earths atmosphere, this happens regularly one was seen in Irelands burning up only a few weeks ago!
