Good question, dreaming is really important and we think it improves mental health and recovers the body. One reason we know it is really important is because when some animals hibernate, they use as little energy as possible for the winter, so their body cools down. Every day or so the body heats up a bit and brain activity is monitored so they lose energy so they can dream, meaning dreaming is more important than conserving energy in hibernation. Dreaming is still trying to be understood.
