I live in the countryside in Kildare, and have a cat called Sherlock. I’m a big rugby fan and play tag rugby. I like to travel lots, this year I’ve been lucky enough to visit New Zealand, Singapore, Austria and Portugal! I enjoy reading, dancing salsa, and singing with my work choir.

In my job we plan the high voltage electrical transmission network moves electrical energy from generation sites, like wind farms and gas plants, to homes and businesses. The main task is to look at what is changing in the network and what is is needed to make sure the network is secure, sustainable and safe. This involves studying the network for different seasons which can change the amount of energy we use. For example, more electrical energy is used on cold days.
Typically we study several years into the future, and how the governments climate action plan will change the network.
My Typical Day

I'm up early, as I travel from Kildare to Dublin on the train for work. I get to my desk and check my tasks for the day. I work with my team mates on several projects and try to learn from my team mates as much as I can. I try to get in some sport in the evenings, either at the gym or playing tag rugby. Then relax on the train home with a book or a podcast.
What I'd do with the prize money

I'd like to arrange experience days for students at EirGrid to see how the electricity system works!
