• Question: Do you believe in big bang theory?

      Hi Emily, the big bang theory is as the name says a theory that could explain how our universe has come into existence. It is currently the most plausible theory and therefore there is a good chance that the universe started its existence as described by the theory. However, as scientists make further discoveries and conduct new investigations it may turn out that another theory may be more plausible. Therefore, I don’t “believe” in the big bang theory, but I accept it as a theory that is plausible and is supported by the information that is available to us at the moment.

      Personally, I have not done a lot of research into the Big Bang theory so I don’t have a lot of information on it. As far as I know scientists have studied the solar system and our planet and put all of the information they found together so that we can better understand how our planet was created and what its future could look like. When a theory like the Big Bang is put forward, it is only made public when lots of scientists have done research and the different scientists have found similar results. It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is 100% correct, but it means that it is definitely possible! In my opinion we might never have the ‘correct’ answer, because it is impossible to be certain. But with all of this research we can gather a very ‘close to the truth’ idea that will help our understanding 🙂
      So, to answer your question I certainly believe and trust the research that has been done to describe the Big Bang, but there is still lots of research to be done to give an even deeper understanding or provide new information. That is the beauty of science- it is always developing!

      I haven’t hear any theory that better explains things – so right now I do.

      At this moment the Big Bang theory is the best explanation of how the universe was created, and there is some evidence that supports it, such as the discovery of the background radiation in space.
      It’s still a theory though so maybe someday someone will find more evidence and come up with a better explanation!

      I don’t know too much about it but as far as I know it is the most accepted theory about how the universe came to be. I trust that if the scientists that study this area are proposing this as the most accepted theory then it is the most we can know at the moment. Maybe with time more will be known and the theory could change or expand.

      So far the big bang theory seems to provide a reasonable explanation for the origin of the universe. However we don’t know for sure if this is true, it just makes the most sense as of now.

      But I am curious, do you think of what are the other possible origins of the universe?

      So because it is called a theory, it is not considered fact, but it seems to be the best explanation we have at the moment. So yes! I do believe the big bang theory, but I also keep in mind that we could get new evidence in the future that either gives us a fact or points us towards a new theory, so you have to keep an open-mind and be willing to read new research and evidence!

      I think the big bang theory provides the most logical explanation at the moment but, as a scientist, I think it is important to be open to facts and theories changing over time so it would be exciting if there were some more scientific breakthroughs on this topic while I’m alive!
