Hi tastybaker9! I have officially been a scientist for 10 years as I include my college years. However, I studied science in secondary school too, so if I include that, then I have been a scientist for 16 years!
I loved science, so just decided to make a career out of it!
My first science job was in 1996 when I was in Leipzig in Germany and I worked on a research project in the chemistry department, learning how to do research. I also worked as a proof reader checking the content and English of scientific papers from the department – that was only 6 years after the fall of the Berlin wall, so their English was rather poor as in East Germany there was no contact with the West.
So I would say, 24 years doing science. With my first scientific paper in 1999, some would say 21 years.
Either way, a pretty long stretch

I’ve been a qualified scientist for 10 years, which is nearly a third of my life! But, time flies when you’re having fun 🙂
