Cooking. Having said that, cooking was one of my favourite things to do before this all started (I’ve been an avid bread baker for a few years now). When I worked in an office, I had to cook meals during the week which didn’t take much time to prepare or required too many ingredients, but now I’m able to start cooking in the afternoons during my mini-breaks from work, meaning I can make everything fresh (like home made pasta, stock, fresh bread). This has helped me cope with what’s going on as, every day, I get a sense of satisfaction from having accomplished something (and having something delicious to eat at the end of the process).

Practicing my martial arts (Kuk Sool Won)! I am working towards achieving my first dan (black belt) next year, so am training a lot, especially with my weapons (nunchucks, staff and sword)!

I love going out for long walks with my dogs! I’ve discovered a national garden that is a short 15/20 mins walk from my house and it is full of loads of trees and flowers- it’s so beautiful and tranquil and is open all day for anyone to use. So, I love to bring my dogs there and let them run around. They get so excited at all of the new smells. One of my dogs, Bruno, loves the smell of flowers, so he lights up the second we walk though the gates 🙂

I’ve also started using a mindfulness app called Headspace recently. At first it didn’t really help much, but after about three sessions I really began to feel more at ease with my thoughts.
Every day is different for every person. Some days might feel great and other days might feel sad. But that’s okay, everyone single person in the world is also feeling this rollercoaster of emotions!

One thing that is still on my list is to try some baking. So far I’ve also enjoyed some drawing as well 🙂 Doing little things we enjoy definitely makes the most of the time at home.

What has your favourite thing to do been?

This is one of my favourite things! It’s nice to get a break from all the emails. I’m also enjoying spending more time with my daughter- we bought bikes, which are great fun.

In the last weekend I went picking up elderflower with my wife and we made home-made elderflower cordial. And now I really find it awesome to have a glass of ice-cold elderflower juice (1 part cordial, 5 parts sparkling water, 1 slice of lemon) and enjoy the sun on the patio 🙂

I’ve been enjoying the slower pace of life and not having to rush as much.. not really anywhere to rush to at the moment. So that has allowed me to do a bit more baking and trying new recipes which I have enjoyed.

I’m painting a lot more. I love putting my headphones on and listening to a book or podcast and take out the brushes and paint a landscape from places I’ve traveled to. Currently working on a painting from when I went to Barbados, a beautiful beach scene.

I’m enjoying going for more runs and cooking/baking different things. I haven’t baked since I was a child so it’s been fun trying out simple recipies.

Well I’ve been doing a lot of baking, and I’ve actually made a lot of new friends online as well, so that’s been fun! I’ve been catching up on my reading, and re-watching some TV shows that I first watched many years ago…basically turning my lockdown experience into a nostalgia fest.
