We didn’t make it but we worked with a company to design Janus. It was important that it could be very flexible so it could be used on lots of different types of projects, as we have lots of people who want to use Janus for their research!
One of the most important things was that it can be completely sterile so we can work safely with cells, without contaminating them or releasing them into the environment. That’s why Janus is kept in the big cabinet you can see on my pictures.
If we can get some more money we hope to be able to add some new tools to Janus, so we can do even more, like take videos of cells once they have been treated with a drug to see what happens to them.
