That’s a good question, being a biologist I’m not sure I know the answer – you can try the scientists in the Space Zone as well. The principle is that if we have a tube with a glass lens at the top and the bottom, that we can zoom in on distant things if we look through both lens from one tube of the tube. The glass lenses are the same as in a magnifying glass – so you have to get them aligned properly and in focus because they alter the light focus.
